- Outdoor
Photographer Magazine, 20th Anniversary issue, June 2005. Two
images for the Travel issue. Market Lady at the early
morning fish market in Karimun Jawa Island off Central Java, Indonesia,
illustrates the use of a reflector for soft, natural light. Madagascar
Burning, a dramatic image where I used a beanbag for stability,
shows that slash and burn agriculture still flourishes in Madagascar,
particularly in the remote remaining eastern rainforest.
- Outdoor
Photographer Magazine,
July 2005, Digital to the Extreme is a three page illustrated
article about the use of digital imaging in extremely wild Indonesia.
On assignment for the Wildlife Conservation Society, I had to move efficiently
through a host of required shots at a number of research sites. I am
now convinced that digital is the only way to go for photo journalism
in the bush.
- Gulf
Shore Life Magazine
published an 8 page illustrated ‘Expedition Journal’ of
my assignment in the March 2005 issue.
- The
Loupe, a new magazine showcasing story ideas and concepts,
will run a full page Storyboard with my images from the ‘Sadabe
Project’ where a small team of us discovered a new sub-species
of lemur, assisted with research, training of technicians, rebuilding
of a school, and preserving the land through a new national park. July
2005.
- Coastal
Elegance,
a new Florida magazine, will feature ‘Plunge In’,
an image of Adelie penguins in Antarctica diving off an ice berg into
the water, in their Parting Shot page in the mid-summer issue.
