IUCN WORLD CONSERVATION CONGRESS – ILCP will be partnering with the IUCN WORLD CONSERVATION CONGRESS in Barcelona, Spain, October 5 – 14, 2008, to help illustrate some of the most pressing conservation subjects that will be discussed at this meeting. Connie’s Ghost Orchid (Dendrophylax lindenii) will be one of the ten images exhibited in the main pavilion, the Species Pavilion.

The IUCN, the largest and most influential conservation organization in the world, asked ILCP to be an official partner. ILCP photographs will be featured at the 5 major pavilions that will act as the center for this Congress.  A slide show/film featuring ILCP members’ images will be shown at the opening ceremony.  An estimated 8,000–10,000 delegates from governments and NGOs from around the globe will meet to set the agenda for conservation action for the coming years.

The sponsoring agencies for the traveling exhibit represent four “pillars” — faith, science, justice and art. The faith perspective is provided by Noah, a coalition of Protestant, Evangelical and Christian groups dedicated to care of the Earth, and the science perspective is represented by Conservation International’s Center for Applied Biodiversity Science.
